Devin S. Norris is a Composer/Pianist in the Los Angeles Area.
Devin has composed music for shows such has The Twilight Zone(CBS 2019) and for advertisements for companies such as Mercedes-Benz and AARP. He has also worked as a lead composer for the Emmy winning A&E TV show Born This Way's second(2016) and third(2017) seasons, and TLC's The Healer(2017). His music can also be heard on over 80 TV shows, and over 500 episodes such as The Voice(NBC), The Young And The Restless (CBS), Sunday NFL Football, Fear Factor, Catfish, CBS Sports Spectacular, Give(NBC), Battle of the Network Stars(ABC) UFC Ultimate Insider, Vice News, PGA Tour, Ink Wars, Corporate(Comedy Central), Tennis US Open, March Madness Team Confidential, American Greed, The Lemming Report, Road Hauks, LPGA Golf, Monday Night QB, We Need to Talk, That Other Pregame Show, Inside College Football. He has also been involved in orchestration and copy work for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Hollywood Bowl with the L.A. Phil and with channels such as The Disney Channel (Phineas & Ferb) and Nickelodeon.
He has composed string arrangements for Grammy winning artist Faith Evans’ album, Incomparable, in which tracks from the album were nominated for a Grammy for best R&B performance. He has also done orchestration and arranging work for multi Grammy nominated artist Ledisi. Other artists he's composed string arrangements for are The Common Kings, Clinton Sparks, Benny Briggs, and Asleep at the Gate. He also co-composed the music for the short film "Dominio" which appeared as the 2016 International Selection in the Stockholm Screen Dance Festival, and won best dance short at the Oxford Film Festival.
Devin appeared on television show Jane the Virgin, playing piano in the band of David Bisbal, and the Halmark Channel's Home&Family playing piano in the Big Band of Donny Most. He has played in numerous bands and showcases across the world.
Devin Orchestrated and Musically Directed the premiere of the play The Creation of the World at Orange Coast College.
In contemporary jazz, Devin won the 2013 Angel City Young Artist Competition, co-leading a group and composing, which culminated in a performance at the Angel City Jazz Festival at Los Angeles County Museum of the Arts (LACMA).
While Devin enjoys playing and composing all kinds of music, he has a particular affinity for strings. This being the case, his own project, which he calls the Devin S. Norris Chamber Jazz Ensemble, creates the perfect mix between through composed classical music, and the freedom of Jazz. This ensemble consists of a string quartet, which the music is all written by Devin, and a jazz trio, drums bass and piano.
When not playing or composing music, Devin is an avid fan of baseball, in particular the Dodgers, and loves single malt scotch, surfing, and his border collie Rosie.
